The ICICI Business Advantage Black is one of the strongest business credit card options for Indian SMBs scaling past the freelancer stage. It supports up to 5 employee add-on cards (each with individual spend limits), generates GST-compliant statements, and offers higher reward rates on business-relevant categories. For a business spending ₹10L+ annually, it’s often the right primary business card.

Fees and charges

Joining fee₹1,500 + GST — credited back if eligible spends cross ₹75,000 within 60 days of card issuance
Annual fee₹1,000 + GST (year 2 onwards)
Annual fee waiverSpend ₹7,50,000 in the prior year (NOT ₹5L)
Welcome benefitJoining fee credited back on ₹75K eligible spends within 60 days — effective LTF for active users
Foreign markupRefer current MITC (not exposed on the issuer's public landing page)
Add-on cardsMultiple employee add-on cards supported with individual limits (verify max in MITC)
Finance charges3.75% per month (~45% APR) on minimum-due-paid balances and revolving balance

How cashback works (it's a cashback card, not a reward-points card)

  • Tier 1 — Monthly spend > ₹75,000: Up to 1% cashback on domestic and international spends
  • Tier 2 — Monthly spend ₹25K-₹75K: Tiered cashback (refer issuer landing page for current rate)
  • Monthly cashback cap: ₹2,000 from eligible spends
  • Excluded categories (no cashback): fuel, utility, cash withdrawals, insurance, government, tax payments, education, fees, interest charges
  • Extra 0.20% cashback: on the total amount due if you make payment via ICICI Bank Corporate Net Banking
Important correction: Earlier versions of this review showed a reward-points structure (6 RP / ₹100 on business spends, etc.). That was incorrect — the Business Advantage Black is a direct cashback product per the issuer's product page. Reward-points-style accelerators do not apply on this card.

Business-friendly features

  • Multi-card management: issue up to 5 add-on cards for employees, each with separate monthly limits
  • GST-ready statements: proper tax invoice format with HSN codes for business spend
  • Spend categorisation: business expense categorisation in iMobile / NetBanking
  • Dispute consolidation: all add-on card disputes routed through one primary holder
  • Insurance: air-accident ₹1 crore, lost-card liability cover

What’s included beyond rewards

  • 4 domestic lounge visits per quarter (16/year combined across primary + add-ons)
  • 2 international lounge visits/year via Priority Pass
  • Concierge service for business travel bookings
  • Discounts at Costa Coffee, BPCL, and ICICI partner business outlets

Spend level where the fee pays off

Annual fee + GST₹2,950
Welcome benefit (year 1)₹1,250
Lounge value (year 1, 16 visits)~₹12,000
Net cost year 1Strongly net positive
Break-even on rewards alone (3% on business)₹98K business spend annually

Vs. HDFC Business MoneyBack

HDFC Business MoneyBack at ₹500 fee returns 1.33–2.67% cashback. ICICI Business Advantage Black at ₹2,500 fee returns 1–3% but adds 16 free lounge visits + 5 employee cards + better business categorisation. For businesses spending ₹7L+/year with 2+ employee cards needed, ICICI is clearly better. For solo operators under ₹5L spend, HDFC’s simpler structure wins.

Vs. Amex Business Platinum

Amex Business Platinum at ₹60,000+ fee offers vastly more lounge access, hotel elite tiers, and 45,000 MR welcome. But Amex acceptance in India remains weaker than Visa/Mastercard, and the fee only makes sense for businesses spending ₹1Cr+ annually. ICICI Business Advantage Black is the better choice for businesses in the ₹1–5 Cr revenue band.

Who this card is for

  • Best fit: SMBs with ₹5–50L annual business credit card spend
  • Best fit: businesses with 2–5 employees who need cards (sales, procurement, ops)
  • Best fit: existing ICICI Business Banking customers
  • Best fit: businesses where GST input credit on cards is a meaningful tax-saving
  • Skip if: you’re a freelancer or solopreneur — HDFC Business MoneyBack at 1/5th the fee makes more sense
  • Skip if: annual business spend is >₹1Cr — step up to Amex Business Platinum
Verdict: The right business credit card for Indian SMBs in the ₹1–10 Cr revenue range. Multi-card management, GST-ready statements, and 16 lounge visits make the ₹2,500 fee easy to justify. The 3% return on business categories is a meaningful savings line for any active business.
Application requires GST certificate, business PAN, and 6-month business bank statements. Add-on card limits set per the primary holder’s discretion.
