📌 Two variants of Axis Magnus — how they differ
Axis Bank Magnus (regular, open to public) and Axis Bank Magnus for Burgundy (Burgundy banking customers only) are two distinct products. The page above details the Burgundy variant. Below is a quick comparison with the regular Magnus — the same card but at lower fee/different transfer ratio:
| Attribute | Regular Magnus | Magnus for Burgundy |
|---|---|---|
| Annual fee (excl. GST) | ₹12,500 | ₹30,000 |
| Spend-based fee waiver | ₹25 lakh in preceding year | ₹30 lakh in preceding year |
| Eligibility | Open to public (income-based) | Burgundy banking customer only |
| Welcome benefit | ₹12,500 voucher (Luxe / The Postcard Hotels / Yatra) | Same ₹12,500 voucher option set |
| International lounges (Priority Pass) | Unlimited primary + 4 guest visits/year (revised from 8 w.e.f. 20 Apr 2024) | Unlimited primary + 12 guest visits/year |
| Domestic lounges | Unlimited at select lounges | Unlimited + unlimited guest visits |
| Base reward rate | 12 EDGE Reward Points per ₹200 on spends up to ₹1.5L/month | Same 12 EDGE per ₹200 |
| Tiered accelerator | 35 EDGE Reward Points per ₹200 on spends above ₹1.5L/month (capped at credit limit + ₹1.5L per cycle) | Same 35 EDGE per ₹200 on incremental tier |
| Travel EDGE multiplier | 5X Reward Points on Travel EDGE bookings | Same 5X on Travel EDGE |
| Airline transfer ratio | 2 partner miles per 5 EDGE Reward Points (across 20 partners) | 4 partner miles per 5 EDGE Reward Points (across 20 partners) — 2× better |
| Forex markup | 2% (preferential) | 2% (preferential) |
| Extended-credit interest | 3% per month (lowered) | 3% per month (lowered) |
| Cash withdrawal fee | NIL | NIL |
| Fuel surcharge waiver | 1% on ₹400–₹4,000 (capped ₹400/month) | 1% on ₹400–₹4,000 (capped ₹400/month) |
| Leela Palace | 15% off bed & breakfast rates | Same 15% off + Burgundy hotel privileges |
| Dining Delights | Up to 30% off at 4,000+ restaurants | Same up to 30% off |
Headline difference: The Burgundy variant doubles the airline-transfer value (4 vs 2 partner miles per 5 EDGE) and increases international-lounge guest visits (12 vs 4/yr), but charges 2.4× the fee (₹30K vs ₹12.5K). For a Burgundy-eligible HNI flying premium-cabin internationally, the Burgundy variant is materially better. For everyone else (or if the airline-transfer math doesn’t outweigh the ₹17,500 fee delta), the regular Magnus is the rational pick.
T&Cs of both variants were updated w.e.f. 1 Sep 2023, 20 Apr 2024 and 20 Jun 2025 per the Axis Bank Magnus product page (verified Apr 2026).

Compared with alternatives
Tap any card below to read the full head-to-head comparison.
Axis Atlas (vs Magnus Burgundy) →
Atlas is cheaper (₹5K fee) and travel-optimised with simpler earning. Magnus Burgundy needs Burgundy relationship + higher spend.
Magnus Burgundy vs HDFC Infinia →
Infinia (₹14,750) has SmartBuy 10× engine; Magnus Burgundy (₹35,400) has up to 24% travel value-back via EDGE transfer. Full head-to-head here.
Magnus Burgundy vs ICICI EPM →
Both super-premium. EPM has guaranteed ₹23K retention voucher; Magnus has higher transfer ceiling. See full head-to-head.
Plain Axis Magnus (₹12,500) (comparison article coming soon)
Non-Burgundy variant. Lower transfer caps (5L Group B vs 8L here), airport meet-and-greet removed in 2024.

Who the Axis Magnus for Burgundy is for
Magnus for Burgundy is for existing Axis Burgundy HNI clients (AUM ₹30L+, TRV ₹1Cr+, or salary ₹3L+/month) who spend ₹20-40L/year heavily on travel and want the highest premium-cabin redemption value in India via EDGE transfer. If you maximise Group A airline transfers, this card can deliver 20%+ effective value on travel spends.
Not the right card if: you’re not an Axis Burgundy client — the card cannot be issued standalone. Also not right if your spend is below ₹8-10L annually (fee vs benefit doesn’t work), or if you prefer predictable cashback over transferable points (pick ICICI EPM instead).
How to apply & how to cancel
Apply: Application is via Axis Burgundy relationship manager. Existing Burgundy customers can request Magnus for Burgundy via NetBanking or branch visit. Non-Burgundy applicants must first establish the banking relationship (₹10L AQB, ₹3L+ salary, or ₹1Cr TRV) — typically a 3-6 month process — before becoming eligible.
Cancel: Call Axis credit card helpline (1860 419 5555) or visit branch. Clear all dues first; redeem or transfer EDGE points before closure (forfeited at closure). Renewal fee non-refundable once 30 days past renewal.
Final verdict
Axis Magnus for Burgundy is the top Indian travel-rewards card for Axis Burgundy clients who actively transfer EDGE points to airline partners. The April 2026 transfer-partner refresh (removing Marriott/Accor, adding British Airways) reshapes value but keeps it competitive at the top tier. The ₹30K fee is heavy but waivable at ₹30L spend — achievable for genuine HNI users. For anyone not already in Axis Burgundy, ICICI Emeralde Private Metal or HDFC Infinia are better alternatives.
Frequently asked questions
Can non-Burgundy customers apply for Magnus for Burgundy?
No. The card is exclusively issued to active Axis Burgundy relationship customers. Non-Burgundy applicants must first establish the Burgundy relationship (₹10L AQB, ₹3L+/month salary, or ₹1Cr TRV).
What changed in April 2026 transfer partners?
Axis removed Accor Live Limitless, Marriott Bonvoy, and Qatar Airways from the transfer list, and added British Airways Avios, Vietnam Airlines, and Finnair. Singapore KrisFlyer, Etihad, Air India Flying Returns remain Group A.
What is the transfer ratio?
5:4 — 5 EDGE reward points convert to 4 partner airline miles or hotel points. This applies to both Group A and Group B partners.
What are the annual transfer caps?
Maximum 2,00,000 EDGE points can be transferred to Group A partners per year. Maximum 8,00,000 EDGE points to Group B partners per year. Effective since April 20, 2024.
How does Magnus Burgundy differ from plain Magnus?
Burgundy variant retains unlimited lounges, airport meet-and-greet (4/year), higher transfer caps (8L Group B vs 5L for plain Magnus). Plain Magnus (₹12,500 fee) is available to public applicants with ₹15L+ income; Magnus Burgundy is relationship-gated at ₹30K fee.
Can I waive the annual fee?
Yes — ₹30L annual spend waives the full renewal fee. This is achievable for HNI users but out of reach for moderate spenders.
Is airport meet-and-greet still active?
On Magnus Burgundy — yes, 4 visits/year at select international departures. On plain Magnus — removed in 2024.
Do EDGE points expire?
Yes — EDGE points expire after 36 months from earn date. Transfer or redeem within that window.
Can I hold both Magnus and Magnus Burgundy?
Typically no — Axis allows one card per customer in the Magnus family. Burgundy customers upgrading from Magnus will have the plain variant deactivated.
How does ₹30L spend waiver calculate?
Sum of all retail EMI + non-EMI spends in the 12-month anniversary period, excluding cash advance, fees, reversed transactions, and GST. Utility and fuel may or may not count depending on current policy — confirm with Axis.
Data current as of April 2026. Credit card fees, rewards and benefits are revised periodically by issuers. Always confirm current terms with the issuer before applying.
