Travel accelerator: 5 EDGE Miles per ₹100 on direct travel spends (airlines, hotels, online travel agencies like MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip, Yatra booking categories). Who the Axis Bank Atlas is for
Existing Axis Atlas cardholders who hit Gold (₹7.5L) or Platinum (₹15L) tier — the bonus miles + unlimited lounges are genuinely valuable at that spend level. Regular Axis Burgundy travellers also benefited from the 1:1 transfer ratio pre-April-2026.
Not the right card if: you’re a new applicant — Atlas is discontinued, so you cannot apply. Also not right if your annual travel spend is below ₹1L (you won’t hit even Silver tier). For new applicants, pick Axis Magnus (publicly available) or Amex Platinum Travel.
How to apply & how to cancel
Apply: Not accepting new applicants. Existing Atlas cardholders see renewal notices 30 days before anniversary. If you’re an existing holder, just pay the renewal fee (₹5K + GST) or opt out.
Cancel: Call Axis helpline (1860 419 5555). Clear dues; transfer or redeem EDGE Miles before closure (forfeited at closure). Renewal fee non-refundable 30 days post renewal. Note: once closed, you cannot reopen an Atlas card (discontinued).
Final verdict
Axis Atlas was — and for existing cardholders, remains — one of India’s better ₹5K travel-rewards cards. The tier-based structure rewards higher spenders generously. The 20 Jun 2025 T&C update moved the transfer program to dynamic ratios (rates vary by partner), but existing cardholders still have a strong product. For new users, the fact that Atlas is discontinued makes this discussion moot — you’ll need to pick from Axis Magnus, Amex Platinum Travel or HSBC Travel One instead.
Frequently asked questions
Is Axis Atlas really discontinued?
Yes — Axis Bank stopped accepting new Atlas applications in early 2026. Existing cardholders continue to enjoy all benefits per their current terms.
Can I upgrade from Atlas to Magnus or Reserve?
Yes — Axis allows horizontal upgrade to Magnus (₹12.5K) or Reserve (₹5K). Tenure history carries over. EDGE Miles balance is preserved on upgrade (not on downgrade).
What changed in the Miles Transfer program?
The 20 Jun 2025 T&C update moved the program to dynamic conversion ratios per partner, with partners split into Group A (cap 30,000 EDGE Miles/yr) and Group B (cap 1,20,000 EDGE Miles/yr); total transfer cap 1,50,000 EDGE Miles/calendar year. The current list and exact rates are at traveledge.axisbank.co.in. We recommend checking before transferring, as rates and partner availability can change.
What is the travel spend cap on Atlas?
₹2 lakh of direct travel spend per Cardmembership year earns 5× Miles. Beyond the cap, travel earns the base 2× rate.
Can I redeem Atlas Miles for cash?
Yes via statement credit at 1 EDGE Mile = ₹0.20. Much better value (1 Mile = ₹1+) via airline partner transfer.
Does EDGE Miles have expiry?
Yes — 36 months from earn date. Transfer or redeem within 3 years or they lapse.
Is the Atlas fee waiver available?
Atlas renewal fee typically not waivable. Platinum tier holders get 5,000 bonus Miles annually which roughly offsets the fee.
How are tiers assessed?
Based on eligible retail spends in the Cardmembership year (excluding utilities, fuel, wallet, rent, gold/jewellery, government, insurance, and telecom merchants — per the 20 April 2024 T&C update). Tier is set at renewal and locks in benefits for the upcoming year.
Can I keep Atlas forever without hitting tiers?
Yes — without tier attainment, you still earn base 2 Miles per ₹100 on retail and 5 per ₹100 on travel (up to the ₹2L cap). The milestone bonuses and higher lounge entitlements only kick in at Silver and above.
Is Axis Atlas available again?
No reliable news of Atlas returning. If Axis reopens applications, existing cardholders will see priority notifications. Monitor the Axis website.
