Who this is for

The 6E Rewards XL IndiGo HDFC Bank is HDFC's premium IndiGo co-brand targeting frequent IndiGo flyers. The 5% earn rate on IndiGo bookings + 1:1 redemption against future flights makes it effectively a 5% discount on IndiGo travel. The welcome benefit alone (3,000 flight ticket + 1,099 6E Prime add-ons) nearly covers the fee. Best suited for travellers taking 4+ IndiGo flights a year.

Reward structure

  • IndiGo bookings: Up to 5% as 6E Rewards (redeemed 1:1 against future IndiGo flight + 6E Prime add-ons)
  • Dining, grocery, entertainment: 3% 6E Rewards
  • Fuel: Capped at 500 6E Rewards per calendar month
  • Other spends: Base rate (verify with HDFC current T&C)
  • RP validity: 2 years from accrual date
Welcome = fee recovery. 3,000 flight ticket + 1,099 Prime = 4,099 in year-1 welcome value versus 1,770 fee = net +2,329 before any spending.

Travel benefits

  • 8 complimentary domestic lounge visits per year
  • 2.5% forex markup (concessional vs 3.5% standard)

What we like

IndiGo is India's largest airline — a card that gives 5% back on every booking is genuinely valuable for urban travellers. Welcome benefits alone exceed the fee; 6E Prime add-ons add comfort on every IndiGo flight.

Where it falls short

  • No fee waiver path — 1,770 every year regardless of spend
  • 6E Rewards only redeem against IndiGo (no flexibility if you switch airlines)
  • Fuel rewards capped at 500 RP/month
  • 2-year RP expiry forces active planning
  • Post Air India/Vistara merger, IndiGo's domestic dominance may shift — check long-term value

Should you apply?

Apply if: You take 4+ IndiGo flights/year, spend on dining/groceries regularly (3% accelerator), and travel internationally (2.5% forex is ~1% saving vs standard cards).

Skip if: You fly multiple airlines (single-co-brand lock-in hurts you), take fewer than 3 IndiGo flights/year, or want fee-waiver flexibility.

CSI Rating: 7.8 / 10

The bottom line

6E Rewards XL IndiGo HDFC is a strong IndiGo-loyalist card. Welcome benefit comfortably covers the fee in year one. 5% on IndiGo + 3% on dining/grocery/entertainment delivers meaningful return. The absence of fee waiver and single-airline lock-in are the main limitations. Pair with a general-purpose card for non-IndiGo spends.

Verified against HDFC Bank's official 6E Rewards XL IndiGo page and April 2026 listings. Welcome benefit requires first-spend activation. 6E Rewards redeem 1:1 on IndiGo only.
