Axis Bank Vistara Platinum Credit Card Review

Axis Bank · Entry airline co-brand · Visa Platinum
Our score: 6.4 / 10
Annual fee: ₹1,500 + GST
Reward: 2 Maharaja Points per ₹200 (post-merger naming)
Lounge: 2 domestic visits, spend-gated (per current issuer page)
Forex: 3.5%

Best for: Occasional Air India flyers wanting entry-level Maharaja Points earning at a low fee.

Vistara has merged into Air India. The current issuer page now shows: rewards credit as Maharaja Points (the renamed Air India loyalty currency), 2 MP per ₹200 of eligible spend; 2 complimentary domestic lounge visits subject to spend criteria; Purchase Protection ₹1 lakh / $300; up to 15% off on Goibibo & MakeMyTrip flights/hotels (Wednesday Delight). The older "welcome economy ticket voucher" and "renewal ticket voucher" benefits are no longer on the marketing page — verify in your specific MITC.
What we like
  • Low ₹1,500 fee
  • 2 Maharaja Points per ₹200 base earn — accrues directly into your Maharaja Club account (post-merger Air India loyalty)
  • 2 complimentary domestic lounge visits / year (subject to spend criteria per issuer)
  • Wednesday Delight: Up to 15% instant savings on flights and hotels booked via Goibibo and MakeMyTrip
  • Purchase Protection cover up to ₹1 lakh (or USD 300 for items purchased abroad)
  • EMI conversion on transactions ≥ ₹1,500
Watch out for
  • Major benefit erosion post-Vistara/Air India merger: the legacy welcome and renewal economy-ticket vouchers are no longer on the issuer page; new applicants will not get them on issuance / renewal in 2026
  • Lounge access reduced to 2 domestic visits, spend-gated
  • No international lounge
  • 3.5% forex markup is uncompetitive
  • Maharaja Points redemption value depends on Air India award chart — many ex-Vistara redemption sweet-spots no longer available at historical ratios

Rewards structure

Per the current issuer page: 2 Maharaja Points per ₹200 of eligible spends (~1% headline at 1 MP ≈ ₹1). Maharaja Points are Air India's post-merger loyalty currency and replaced Club Vistara Points. Older marketing that quoted "4 CV points per ₹200 on Vistara bookings" plus the welcome and renewal economy-ticket vouchers is no longer visible on the live issuer page; new applicants should plan around the base earn rate, the 2 spend-gated domestic lounges and the Wednesday-Delight Goibibo / MMT discount rather than legacy ticket vouchers.

Key benefits

  • Welcome domestic economy ticket voucher
  • 2 domestic lounge visits/year
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver
  • Free add-on card

Who the Axis Bank Vistara Platinum is for

Light travellers who don't need the premium-economy voucher or 8 lounges that Signature offers. At ₹1,500 this is the cheapest entry to CV/Flying Returns.

Final verdict

A thin but sensible entry-level airline card. If you fly Vistara once a year, the welcome voucher alone covers the fee. Upgrade to Signature if you fly 4+ times.

FAQ

Is the economy voucher valid on Air India post merger?

Yes — voucher honoured on Air India / Air India Express routes per current merger alignment.

Does the voucher include taxes?

Base-fare coverage. Taxes, surcharges and convenience fees are separately payable.

Can I move up from Platinum to Signature?

Yes — horizontal upgrade within Axis Vistara family. Tenure carries over.

Fees and features verified against the issuer's public website. Benefits may vary; always confirm current terms with the issuer before applying.
