The IDBI Aspire Platinum is a budget-friendly credit card from IDBI Bank — fully Indian-owned PSU pricing with surprisingly competitive base benefits. It’s not a card you pursue for peak rewards; it’s a card you keep because the fee is genuinely low and the value flow is simple.
Fees and charges
| Joining fee | ₹499 + GST (waived in promos) |
| Annual fee | ₹499 + GST |

| Annual fee waiver | Spend ₹1 lakh / year |
| Foreign markup | 3.5% + GST |

How rewards work

- Birthday spend: double points
- Excluded: fuel, EMI, cash withdrawals
- Redemption: 1 RP = ~₹0.25 in catalog vouchers
What’s included
- 1 complimentary domestic lounge visit per quarter (4/year)
- Fuel surcharge waiver (1%, capped at ₹100/cycle)
- Air-accident insurance ₹5 lakh
- Lost-card liability cover
What’s missing
- No international lounge access
- No concierge, no premium catalog redemptions
- Reward rate (~0.5%) is below all major ₹500-fee competitors
- IDBI app and online experience trail HDFC/ICICI/Axis significantly
Spend level where the fee pays off
| Annual fee + GST | ₹589 |
| Welcome benefit + first-year lounge value | ₹500 + ~₹4,000 (4 lounges) |
| Net cost year 1 | Net positive (lounges only) |
| Break-even on rewards alone | Hard to recover from rewards (rate too low) |
Vs. Axis ACE / SBI SimplyCLICK
Axis ACE at ₹499 fee returns 2% universal cashback (4× IDBI Aspire’s 0.5% rate). SBI SimplyCLICK at ₹499 returns 10× RP on online spend (2.5% effective on online). Both objectively beat IDBI Aspire on rewards. IDBI’s only edge: 4 free domestic lounge visits at the ₹500 fee tier — most competitors at this price don’t include lounges.
Who this card is for
- Best fit: existing IDBI Bank customers who want a simple companion card with lounge access
- Best fit: users in tier-2/tier-3 cities where IDBI has stronger branch presence
- Skip if: you’re optimising for cashback or rewards — Axis ACE or SBI Cashback offer better returns
- Skip if: you bank with HDFC/ICICI/Axis already — their entry cards offer richer benefits
Verdict: A no-frills PSU bank card whose only real selling point is the lounge access at a low fee. Reward economics are weak — you’re essentially paying ₹500 for 4 lounge visits. If lounge access is the whole reason you’re considering this card, it works. If you want rewards too, look elsewhere.
