Himachal Pradesh 7-Day Itinerary 2026 — Shimla, Manali & Kasol

Himachal Pradesh packs snow peaks, pine valleys, riverside cafés, and Himalayan culture into one accessible mountain state. This 7-day itinerary links Shimla, Manali, and Kasol for a first-timer’s mix of colonial charm, adventure, and laid-back river vibes.

Best time for this route

March–June for pleasant weather and snow at higher passes; September–November for clear post-monsoon views. December–February brings snow to Shimla and Manali (magical, but check road conditions).

Day-by-day plan

  • Day 1 — Arrive Shimla: Stroll the Mall Road and Ridge; sunset at Scandal Point.
  • Day 2 — Shimla: Day trip to Kufri or the Naldehra pine forests; toy-train ride if time allows.
  • Day 3 — Shimla to Manali: Scenic drive (7–8 hrs) along the Beas; overnight in Manali.
  • Day 4 — Manali: Old Manali cafés, Hadimba Temple, Vashisht hot springs.
  • Day 5 — Solang/Atal Tunnel: Adventure activities at Solang Valley or a trip toward Sissu via the Atal Tunnel.
  • Day 6 — Manali to Kasol: Drive to the Parvati Valley; riverside evening in Kasol.
  • Day 7 — Kasol & depart: Short hike toward Chalal or Tosh; head back via Bhuntar.

Getting there

Most travelers take an overnight Volvo bus from Delhi to Shimla/Manali, or fly to Bhuntar (Kullu) Airport. Roads are the main mode within Himachal — keep buffer time for mountain traffic and weather.

Budget estimate

A comfortable mid-range trip runs roughly ₹15,000–25,000 per person for 7 days excluding flights, covering guesthouses, local transport, food, and a couple of paid activities. Backpackers can do it for less using hostels and shared cabs.

Packing & tips

  • Layer up — mountain evenings are cold even in summer.
  • Carry cash; ATMs thin out in Parvati Valley.
  • Acclimatise and hydrate at higher altitudes; don’t over-pack the schedule.
  • Respect local culture in villages like Tosh and Malana.
