Who this card is for

The Kotak White Reserve sits in the ₹12,500-fee super-premium tier alongside HDFC Infinia, ICICI Emeralde Private Metal, and Amex Platinum Charge. It targets HNIs with ₹10L+ annual spends who want a structured milestone-based value back system, unlimited lounge access, Club Marriott Gold, and a full concierge. It's a lifestyle card — the math works well when you reliably hit milestones; if you don't, the ₹14,750 fee is punitive.

The White Pass reward system

Unlike traditional reward-point cards, Kotak White Reserve uses White Pass milestones. You earn White Pass value at staggered annual spend thresholds. The maximum claimable value per anniversary year is ₹2,50,000, which can be redeemed from the White Pass catalogue (branded vouchers, experiences) or taken as cashback.

Important expiry rule: Any unredeemed White Pass value at your anniversary date expires 90 days after the anniversary. It doesn't carry forward. This forces active redemption — don't let it lapse.

Travel & lifestyle benefits

  • Unlimited lounge access at 1,000+ airports worldwide — covers both primary and add-on cardholders (one of very few Indian cards offering unlimited international lounges with add-on parity).
  • Guest charges: $35 per guest per visit after the complimentary visits are exhausted (revised w.e.f. 1 October per Kotak’s notification).
  • Club Marriott membership (included; the standalone fee for this membership is in the ₹10,000–₹12,000 range).
    • Network of 350+ hotels and 1,000+ restaurants across Asia-Pacific.

What we like

Best-in-class forex. 2% forex is among the lowest in the Indian market (most premium cards are 2.5–3.5%). On ₹5 lakh international spend a year, that's ₹7,500–₹17,500 saved versus competitor cards.
  • Unlimited international lounges is rare — joins only HDFC Infinia, Amex Platinum Charge, and ICICI EPM in this club
  • Club Marriott Gold is a genuine ₹12,000+ perk
  • White Pass structure rewards steady high-spenders (sweet spot: ₹8L–₹15L annual)
  • Golf + concierge + curated experiences add a lifestyle layer few cards match
  • Dedicated customer service line

Where it falls short

  • White Pass expiry 90 days post-anniversary — if you don't redeem actively, value vanishes
  • Opaque reward structure — Kotak doesn't publish exact White Pass earn curves, making planning harder than RP-based competitors
  • ₹10 lakh spend waiver is steep for anyone under ₹80K/month
  • Category exclusions apply to milestone tracking (rent, utilities, government payments typically excluded)
  • No air miles conversion (unlike Amex MR or HDFC Infinia partners)
  • Limited Kotak availability in tier-2 cities relative to HDFC/ICICI

Eligibility

  • Typical cutoff: ₹25 lakh+ gross annual income (salaried) or ₹40 lakh+ ITR (self-employed)
  • Existing relationship: Strongly preferred — Privy League (Kotak's wealth programme) customers have higher approval odds
  • Credit score: 780+ recommended
  • Invitation: Often issued on invitation from relationship managers

Should you apply?

Apply if: You are a Kotak Privy League customer or have clear visibility on ₹10L+ annual spend, travel internationally 3+ times a year, and value hotel privileges over air-miles. The 2% forex alone saves heavy travellers ₹10K–₹20K annually.

Skip if: Your annual spend is under ₹8 lakh — the ₹14,750 fee eats too much of the benefit. Also skip if you prefer air miles: Amex MR, Axis Magnus, HDFC Infinia's Smartbuy all beat White Reserve on flight-point conversion.

CSI Rating: 8.2 / 10

The bottom line

Kotak White Reserve is a strong super-premium contender with one standout feature (2% forex) and a distinctive benefit (Club Marriott). For Kotak Privy League customers who spend ₹10L+ annually and travel internationally, it's a near-perfect card — the fee reverses, forex savings alone pay for the card, and Marriott + unlimited lounges cover most luxury needs. For generalists, HDFC Infinia or ICICI EPM offer more transparent reward math and deeper hotel-partner ecosystems.

Verified against Kotak Mahindra Bank's official product page and April 2026 public listings. White Pass earning tiers approximated from public tier structure; actual values depend on spend category and category exclusions. 90-day post-anniversary expiry confirmed in Kotak T&C. Always verify current rules before applying.
